Kartik’s musical journey started at a young age of 4 when he started learning Hindustani / North Indian Classical Music. His Mother is his first guru, however over the years he travelled across the lengths and breadths of India. Kartik is a Tamilian born in the North and raised in 7 states across north, south, east and west. Every time moving to a new city meant learning from a new guru and their style. This shaped his mind into having no barrier or boundaries in Music.

His brainchild Gharana 2.0™ focuses on taking the idea of a “Gharana” from Hindustani Classical music forward for the next generation. In a Modern and Cool Avatar. A Gharana is a system of social organization in the Indian subcontinent. They Link musicians or dancers by lineage or apprenticeship, and by adherence to a particular musical style. A Gharana also indicates a comprehensive musicological ideology. This ideology sometimes changes substantially from one Gharana to another.

Under Gharana 2.0™ he has released various songs / new age bandishes that have instantly connected with the new generation. He says that his idea of Gharana 2.0™ is very simple, he wants the new generation to feel connected with our classical roots but at the same time not feel intimidated or bored. He has made hindustani classical music cool and accessible.

Also he has made sure that along with composing and singing new compositions under Gharana 2.0™. He also releases traditional Bandishes of various gurus of different gharana’s which might have gotten lost with time. Gharana 2.0™ has brought these traditional compositions back to life in a cool avatar and made them accessible to people once again.

Kartik believes that Gharana 2.0™ will help the traditional hindustani classical music become accessible. It will also make it interesting and non intimidating for the Gen Z.
