Kartik Raman, an Indian Music Composer, Playback singer and Independent Artist, is currently working with the Shankar Mahadevan Academy as a Curriculum Designer and has released various Indie songs of his, on his YouTube channel and with fellow collaborators from the Popular Music Platform IndianRaga.

How did you develop interest in music?

I belong to a musical family and my mother is M.A in Sitar. My dad used to sing old Hindi songs at home all the time. Music comes to me from my parents. When I was 5 year old, my mother put me into Hindustani music classes and my journey started from there onwards.

What has your musical journey been like?

Although my journey started at the age of 5 with many inter-school competitions and performances, few events played a crucial role in shaping up my present. Almost every singer in this country aims to be a part of reality shows, and so was I when I was around 15 years old. I badly wanted to be a part of it, however nothing worked out at that time. But God has been very kind to me. During my engineering days in Chennai, a friend of mine told me about a reality show "Hariyudan Naan" which was judged by Padmashree Hariharan ji. At that time, I just knew a couple of Tamil songs & I thought I must give a try. The journey in the show was a learning experience of lifetime with the legend Hariharan Ji. The show went on for about one and a half years and I eventually ended up winning in the public voting category. After that, I tried my luck into the Tamil industry but things somehow did not work out. So, I planned to pursue my Masters, and went to Ahmedabad. During my final year, one of my friends saw a poster on Facebook for a college competition and told me about it. This competition was organized by the Shankar Mahadevan Academy, and the winner would get a chance to meet Shankar Mahadevan ji online for half an hour. Who would want to miss such a chance? I won that show and got a chance to sing and interact with Shankar Mahadevan ji online. Then my destiny brought me to Bangalore, where I initially did an internship with the Academy and eventually joined, after my studies. I started learning Music Production by my own and gradually got into Films as Music Composer, Singer and Music Producer. My first break was with the team of film TRUNK, the biggest Horror Flick of 2018 in the Kannada Film Industry.
